True Love...
Interestingly, a colleague of mine loaned me a set of VCD, titled "Seducing Mr Perfect". She promised it'll be a fun, romantic comedy. I have to totally agree... but snaps of the movie got me thinking about true love.
"Mr Perfect" - Robin Heidan, played by Daniel Henney, depicts a successful businessman, who views love as a game and doesn't believe that true love exists. However, in truth, he has been deeply hurt by love once and it is because of his past that got him jaded and cynical about love.
Truth is, who isn't? Who hasn't been hurt by love, whether once or many other times, such that we have all become jaded and cynical about what love is and means? Moreover, being jaded means we no longer trust our own feelings, ignoring the signs of love, and reject the idea of true love being possible. If so, how will we be able to accept true love even if it comes knocking on the door?
Personally, I believe in true love... and I believe God made one woman for every man out there. Hence, my true love is lurking somewhere out there, waiting for me. But we are all made to think of Mr Perfect as someone like Robin Heidan, the perfect epitome of man with it all: young, handsome and successful, with a touching, sad story that melts the hardest of hearts. Someone with lots of love to give, yet he's hurt and jaded about love; someone who is undeniably attracted to his object of lust, yet tries his hardest to deny that love. Now, don't we all love such an arrogant, yet sensitive; tough exterior, yet with a fragile-heart-on-the-inside kindda man?
Yet, how often do we meet such a man?? Or, should I put it, how do we truly recognise such a man? I believe that men are too often mislead by such a notion, that they will try their damnest not to show their soft side, and try too hard to act tough, arrogant and totally egoistic. Whereas females are even more sorely mislead by such epitomes that they are forever looking for the soft spot in the tough, arrogant man to swoon over... it looks like two blindfolded people trying to find each other... even if they stand right infront of each other, they can't see the other.
No wonder they say Love is Blind. In such circumstance, it is often not possible to look for love... you've got to feel it. However, if being jaded means not to trust your own feelings, then all love is lost.
Nonetheless, in a chick-flick like "Seducing Mr Perfect", love has it's own way of finding two people eventually and have a happy ending... Can't we all have that "happy ever after" in real life??
Ahhh... the power of chickflicks... (^-^)
